a million "thank you!" for spending time reading our blog(:
Our topicDoes the age of a person determine the number ofcigarettes theperson smokes?
Our objectives
- Write a brief statement as to the purpose ofthestudy.
- State how the sample was selected.
- Show the raw data.
- Draw the necessary plots scatter plot for the data values(if applicable).
- Analyse the data.
- Computate the value of the correlation coefficient.
- Write a statement analysing the data.
- Summarise the overall result.

*looks like he is proud to be a smoker(:
we stood at the NYP enterance for 1 1/2 hours and this are some of the photos we took during the data collection(: most of the smokers don't allow us to take their photos but some of them let us took the photos from the back...and there are really some nice ones who are really keen to take photos! =D
we had fun collecting the data! however, there are some of the smokers that spoilt our mood ):
when we ask them in a very polite manner they gave us all sorts of replies like,
"soooo sorrrry! we just had our common tests today...we don't have the mood to do your survey."
"huh?! survey for smokers again?! Don't want laaa...."

OUR RAW DATA(:
Sunday, June 22, 2008
The Outcome of out researchr=-0.049, p=0.746, n=46
p>0.05 therefore we accept the null hypothesis.
There is a no relationship between the age of a person and the number of cigarettes the person smokes.

Reflective Post from Elyn(:When the 1st week of sch starts, i got to know that one of the modules we are having is statistics. At 1st heard, its sounded so "chim", mathematics and IT to me.
I was wondering why in the world would a nursing student need to learn statistic for?
Will it be useful for us nurses in the future?
I was very curious and at the same time abit worried.
But, after attending a few lectures, i felt that statistic is afterall not a difficult module to understand.
I had a wonderful lecturer who delivererd the lectures in details. She helped us understand the concept easily and was always there to repeat again if we are anywhere not clear.
For the ICA, from coming up with the questionnaire to collecting datas from people and to analyse it, the whole procedure was tough but also at the same time quite fun.
Statistics is indeed interesting!
It's good that we took this module in the 2nd year. i believe it will be very useful to us when we're at our 3rd year doing our FYP.
Reflective Post from Hakim(:While doing this project, i feel that it is a compulsory module that trains us student nurses in the future if we are told to do a research in the healthcare setting.
I have learnt from this module abt making plots and graphs and how to anlayze it and therefore making conclusions.
I think the module can be improved by having more tutorials and videos on how to use the spss.
Reflective Post from Thaw dar(:The first of learning statistics, I felt that it is just only related to business course students, not related to nurses. Gradually, I understand that it is really useful for us and is away to improve our learning.
But I had some problems with this stats, it is I couldn’t use SPSS properly.
Now, I am ok with this and comfortable to use SPSS. However, we did survey happily, we had some troubles to think about the questionnaire.
I am very excited to make my group project and how to make differences from others.
We discussed how to integrate and analyze the data, and provide some benefits for people who visit our blog.
Because of her teaching ways, I can understand and practice at a short time. At the end, I am very happy with my group doing the project and studying stats that I’d never learnt before. Thanks a lot to Ms. Chia and all of my friends.
Reflective Post from Huey Min(:Finally, we had come to the end of the research.
This module had gave us the concept of how a research is done. It had increased the bonding and team work among us. Though we had encountered a few challenges during the research, we didn’t give up and managed to finish doing our research.
We had lots of fun giving out the survey to the smoker in front of the school. We had a chance to meet smokers who have different types of personality and attitudes, friendly, unfriendly, fierce….. Overall, it was a good experience. Thanks for those who do the survey for us. Thanks for Jasline, Elyn, Hakim and Thawdar for your effort and hard work to complete this research too =)
Reflective Post from Jasline(:It's the end of our statistics ICA! This module is a new to me. At first i was afraid that i could not cope with it...but after a few lectures, i start to have a better understanding of stactistics though it was quite difficult. However, when we were to collect datas from the ICA, our group really had fun(:
WELCOME ♥
We would like to thank all the people who help us do the survey.
and we woud also like to thank YOU for spending your precious time reading our blog(:
Hope anyone who visit here learns something(:
Anyone can feel free to browse our blog & leave messages!(:
